Drama Teaching Artist Position
3d Arts is Christian charitable organisation dedicated to empowering a generation of artists who follow Jesus. We are looking to build our team of experienced Drama Teaching Artists for 2025.
We are looking for an experienced Lead Teaching Artist (LTA) to teach in our Youth Theatre program with additional teaching opportunities in our Junior Academy.
The successful Lead Teaching Artist applicant will be responsible for planning and delivering drama workshops, directing a full-scale youth production and working as part of a teaching team with Assistant Teaching Artists (ATA) and Volunteer Teaching Artists (VTA) under the artistic direction of the company directors.
Lead Teaching Artists require relevant industry qualifications or equivalent experience in teaching drama to a range of ages and experience levels with a practical understanding of best-practice teaching methodology.
LTA’s are both Teachers and Artists, and have experience in acting and performing themselves, either professionally or non-professionally. Teaching Artists are required to implement the existing 3d Arts Drama curriculum, as well being strongly encouraged to bring innovative new ideas and approaches to their practice.

The Role
This is an independent contractor position for up to 6 hrs teaching per fortnight (depending on role) on a school term based schedule. The LTA role includes some paid planning time and additional paid hours during production season (approx July - August) and will commence late January 2025. Attendance at training sessions throughout the year is encouraged. A reasonable amount of volunteer hours is generally required for occasional meetings and some team events.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver high quality teaching and learning to a Youth theatre class and Junior Academy Drama classes as required.

Use the provided curriculum, in addition to their own knowledge and skills, to create weekly lesson plans and course content within the scope of the youth theatre outline

Direct a large scale production

Provide a clear vision for the production including stagecraft elements

Communicate weekly to team and students

Provide feedback to assistant and volunteer leaders to empower and affirm

Attend an annual leaders retreat and other training days and meetings
